Large 8vo.; publisher's deep brown decorative cloth attractively blocked in mustard yellow, white and black to spine and upper board, lettered gilt to spine, in original buff dustwrapper, decorated in red and black; pp. xiv, [1]-269, including index, with a total of 50 coloured plates protected by captioned tissue-guards; a fine and exceptional copy, both externally and internally, with a neat ownership inscription to front endpapers, in a very good example of the scarce dustwrapper with some light external dusting and rubbing, small chipping to head, and a minor darker smudge to spine; scarce, particularly in the protective dustwrapper.
First edition, presented in the second issue binding without gilding to the upper cover.
