ARMITAGE, Albert B. Two Years in the Antarctic. Being a Narrative of the British National Antarctic Expedition. London, Edward Arnold, 1905.

8vo. Original green cloth, vignette of explorer to upper cover beneath white lettering, lettered in gilt to spine; pp. xix, 315, 16 (publisher's catalogue); plates after photographs (including some by Ponting), illustrations in the text, one folding map; hinges and spine ends with expert cosmetic restorations, spine a little faded, as usual, map with one repaired tear to fold, a little offsetting from endpapers and tissue guard of frontispiece, as usual, a good copy, often encountered with deteriorated binding.
Scarce first edition, with the publisher's catalogue dated October 1905, and not as often February 1906, and in the better binding variant. Armitage joined Scott's National Antarctic Expedition (1901-4) as second-in-command. The present work was published as a short and popular account of the expedition, with anecdotes and personal details.
