Henry Sotheran Ltd. Rare Books and Prints 200 Years of Bookselling in London

Welcome to our February Newsletter.

We are very sad to announce the death on January 8th of John Sprague, known to many as James.
John worked in the shop from 1977 to 2016 and was a fount of knowledge across an eclectic range of subjects. Our thoughts are with his mother and brother.
The shop will be closed on February 2nd in his memory.

Andrew will be at the Pasadena Book Fair from February 9th to 11th. Click here to see a selection of the books that we will be exhibiting.

We are working on a list to coincide with Women's Day on March 8th. As a taster of things to come here is a list of literary titles by women writers.

As we all depend on the above and the resources for collecting books have to come from somewhere, we compiled a little list on the subject. We have everything from Keynes to Soros, diamonds to oil, Wall Street to Whitby. The history of human civilisation goes hand in hand with the story of commerce and we have so many fascinating tales here to share.
Download catalogue here, or view list online.

Shortly to arrive in the children's department are nine fine original Rackham prints from the rare and impressive portfolio edition of "Peter Pan", published by Hodder & Stoughton, in 1912, which was issued in a limited edition of just 500. They are in wonderful condition in their original mats, are greatly enlarged from the plates mounted in the trade edition of the book (published 1906), and are stunning in their clarity and colouring. They are to be priced individually. Please contact Rosie for further details and images.
