8vo pamphlet. Original sewn wrapper, cover illustration by Jean Cocteau, with original mailing envelope, in custom made red sleeve and slipcase with red morocco spine with gilt lettering; near fine. Provenance: with calling card inscribed by Hemingway, adding "& Mrs" to printed "Mr. Ernest Hemingway" and "with compliments from the Dry Tortugas" in black ink. Hemingway often went fishing with male friends to the Dry Tortugas, but in this case was most likely with his second wife Pauline Pfeiffer.
No. 172 of a limited edition of 300. A very scarce item, a play recounting the conversation of three Roman soldiers and a Jewish wineseller.
